Illmythil, Illionor
Illmythil is a small outpost of the Illion Mage School in the cold foothills of the Halhar Mountains in southern Illionor. The outpost is built just above the tree line; slopes of sequoia forest spill over the mountains below, and the Naurë River rushes from the mountains to the east. Illmythil is neither forest, nor river, nor mountain – but sits on the in-between places of many environments. Unlike most mage schools, Illmythil is not geared towards studying magic, but rather other sources of metaphysical phenomena: divinity, scapes, primal upwellings, and so on. The outpost itself is maintained and governed by the Illion Mage School, and most of the inhabitants from the school; however, a small town has grown up around it as those from surrounding villages have gathered here to do trade and make use of Illmythil’s services.
History of Illmythil and the Illion Region
Illmythil is a very new outpost in elven terms; it was constructed only a few centuries ago by the Illion Mage School during the tail end of the magocratic period. There is scarce history of other towns or cities in this region in eras past; most settlements have been small villages geared towards mining, quarrying, or herding. The Illion Region, however, is very old – it is understood to be the birthplace of the elves, and the great city of Illion is home to the oldest mage school in the world. It is mostly a region of vast, unbroken taiga and pine forest; the forest itself is ancient, and contains many stands of trees that are thousands of years old. Though it has never been the capital, the Illion region has nevertheless held significant power and political sway over the rest of Illionor during most of its history; and has also had a long history with the fey folk, who are common in this region.

The Innkeepers
Maírion Lamandhel (Archmage’s Apprentice): Illion Elf M, Early 180’s; Practare.
Training: Lvl 38 – 20/Sorcerer, 10/Enchanter, 3/Witch. || Scribe, Fine Arts, Diplomat.
Description: Dark hair tied back in a tidy knot; patch of grey-to-white hair and eyebrow of the left side of his face where he has been withered. Dresses in tidy mage’s robes; carries an assortment of wands a tools with him.
Rumors: Maírion is rumored to be slated to take over the Illmythil outpost upon the current Archmage’s death. He is known mostly for his mastery of wards and other protective magic.
Mirion Meilios (Bard-in-Residence): Illion Elf F, Early 170’s; Practare.
Training: Lvl 35 – 15/Bard, 10/Ranger, 5/Archer. || Musician, Literary Arts, Forester.
Description: Medium height and build for an Illion elf. Hair is often braided back into a crown and adorned with wildflowers. Now wears a sun hat while she’s outside.
Rumors: Mirion was originally from the Meilion region; rumors are that she is an outcast noble of Meilion. She spends most of here day in odd locations around Illmythil writing poetry and music.
Samaníl Elentari (Crown Inquisitor Apprentice): Illion Elf X, Late 150’s; Practare.
Training: Lvl 34 – 10/Assassin, 10/Martial Artist, 9/Bard. || Innkeeper, Peacekeeper, Messenger.
Description: Light brown-blonde hair and blue-to-grey eyes; medium height and build, doesn’t stand out. Wears the grey uniform and insignia of the Crown Inquisitors.
Rumors: There are no rumors about Samaníl. They are from Celenrion and have little history here.
