Demon’s-Well Chronicles, 1st Semester (Tessellations, S10)

30th of Eigthmoon, Year 193.1.3

Adventurers covered a patrol for threats around Demon’s-Well. They dealt with bandits near town, a miskmarmot infestation, desert gremlins at an oasis, ulgats in the date palm orchards, rescued charmed soldiers, and clear out hags from near the Demon Wastes; but were defeated by a group of gravediggers in the graveyard and jackals on the road. They came back to take on the gravediggers again, but were once again defeated and the gravediggers left with bodies from the graveyard.

13th of Ninthmoon, Year 193.1.3

Adventurers went to rescue a group of soldiers cornered by a demon on the edge of the Demon Wastes; they were overwhelmed by the strange hags accompanying the demon, and the adventurers and soldiers were killed and wisped back to town.

20th of Ninthmoon, Year 193.1.3

Many trade caravans came to Demon’s-Well; the adventurers guarded a caravan bound from Gildmar, which was transporting high-value goods. They also went out to handle an important oasis near the Demon Wastes which was being fortified by strange hags, but were stopped by a group of bandits. After regrouping in town, they returned to the bandits – possibly raiders – and captured some of their leaders; one of the leaders was carrying a strange symbol with them.

27th of Ninthmoon, Year 193.1.3

Children of a well-respected captain in Demon’s-Well went missing; adventurers went out in search of the children and found the cornered by a group of desert gremlins trying to steal their toys and equipment. Another group ventured to the ruins of an old shrine building, where they found a tree growing from a spring and received a short vision. They also received a blessing of might strike for their whole party, and used this to fight imps that had taken over an iron mine – as well as a lesser demon that had joined them. They defeated the imps and demon, and returned victorious.

4th of Tenthmoon, Year 193.1.3

Adventurers ventured into town to search for thieves that have been stealing in the market, and located several suspected thieves. Another group traveled to back to the oasis fortified by the strange hags to try again to take the oasis back, and this time defeated both the raiders on the way and several of the hags. However, the found the oasis in some way corrupted: the water was dark, as was the sand near the oasis.

11th of Tenthmoon, Year 193.1.3

Demon’s-Well this week was afflicted by a “storm of the century”; flash flooding, lightning, and high winds caused damage to the area. Adventurers rushed out to rescue people from the destruction of the storm, including builders at the wall’s fortifications, ostrich herds in a local pasture, and a flooding mine. Another group of adventurers dealt with soldiers causing trouble for innkeepers at The Horn and Calling, a tavern in town.

18th of Tenthmoon, Year 193.1.3

Adventurers helped protect Demon’s-Well from most of the storm damage in the week prior, and the town was mostly unharmed by the storm. One half of the group left town and traveled north to take out a group of gravediggers headed towards the Necropolis and seek an audience with the Oracle Demon; they dealt with most of the undead and received a vision. The other half of the group stayed in town to investigate a third inn and the final inn in the region – the Horn and Calling – burning down in recent weeks. At each of the inns they found signs of demonic influence, the strange dark earth and water at the oases, and a handful of other clues. They also pitched in to Demon’s-Well’s fortification preparations in advance of All Hallows.

25th of Tenthmoon, Year 193.1.3

As All Hallows bore down on Gildmark and the rest the world, adventurers set to defending Demon’s-Well from an onslaught of demons, undead, haunts, hags, and other beings sieging the city. The city’s fortifications were broken and several demons made it inside the city. After assisting during the first wave of enemies, adventurers quickly made their way out to the town’s farms where a beastlike greater demon had shown up at a shrine built by the raiders; they were able to take it down and hold it until a soldier was able to come exorcise it.

1st of Eleventhmoon, Year 193.1.3

In the aftermath of All Hallows, adventurers considered several plans to start rebuilding from the damage done by the demons and other forces. They chose to travel to the Demon Wastes to scout out the wastes and gather more information while the demons were likely to still be weak. One half of the party scouting out a route to the Wastes and cleared dangers on the way, while the other half of the party stayed in reserve to explore the Wastes upon arrival.

8th of Eleventhmoon, Year 193.1.3

Due to rainy weather, this was a small things event. Players worked on their own characters’ projects and loose ends for the day, including: investigating samples from the Demon Wastes and local oases, seeking blessings from a variety of deities, curing sicknesses afflicting their party members, crafting magic items, and making connections with important people and groups in town.

15th of Eleventhmoon, Year 193.1.3

Adventurers continued their exploration of the Demon Wastes this day. They found many strange creatures, met an assortment of demons, found the ruins of an old settlement inhabited by strange mutated gnomes, and a number of haunts including a queen-like figure. They reached the heart of the Demon Wastes, and returned.

29th of Eleventhmoon, Year 193.1.3

Once they were finished briefing the innkeepers on their discoveries in the Demon Wastes, the party decided to escort a caravan full of Demon’s-Well’s last trade goods up to the capital, Gildmar. They took shifts guarding the caravan along the way; once there, they met with a crown diplomat named Marlow and told him that Demon’s-Well was in desperate need of supplies, soldiers, and other support from the capital. The diplomat said he would pass it along to the Emperor.

6th of Twelfthmoon, Year 193.1.3

The party spent much of the day pursuing errands in Gildmar, ranging from researching some of what they had discovered in the Demon Wastes to purchasing high-caliber equipment to making plans to assist in the war against Celemrion. Once finished with their errands, they returned to Demon’s-Well with another caravan of goods as promised by the Gildmark Empire. One half-party guarded some settlers traveling down from the capital partway to Demon’s-Well, while the other half-party explored the ruins of an amphitheater that had been uncovered from some sand dunes by the windy weather.
