  • Goals (x3): Add a timejump goal for a maximum of three (3) of your characters. ***It would be helpful if you put these three characters at the top of your list of characters.

Nova plans to spend several months in each place before traveling to the next so that she can build more relationships with people and get a better understanding of any issues that may have come up for them.

Junior League

Timejumps should be put into a form emailed out to players’ families. Deadline is August 28th***. Make sure to fill out the form for each character you want to keep playing in the future – you will need to fill it out a few times if you have a few characters.
***Deadline Note!!!: I have opted to send out the JL timejump form with September’s event email; so JL’s deadline is later than AL’s. Players who have sent in an email are good to go and don’t need to fill in the form – I’ll just use the email.

Here’s what the form will ask about:

  • Player Name: I need to know which player you are!
  • Base Stats, Including: Name, Species, Alignment, Character Creation Elements (Archetype, Background, Quirk), Character Lvl & Class Ranks, Tradecraft Lvls, Miscellaneous (any other relevant info such as curses, blessings, notable items, etc).
  • Location: Where your character is spending their timejump. Region, settlement, situation, etc.
  • 5 Keywords: Key words or phrases that are relevant to your characters’ interests – things that might draw their attention during the timejump or bring them into an active state during the following season.
  • Goals (x1): Add a timejump goal for a maximum of one (1) of your characters.

Timejump Info

Q: Why do I have to input all of my character information?
A: I’ve found that it’s a lot easier to deal with rolling timejumps and handling characters coming out of retirement if I have a more up-to-date record of their stats and other information.

Q: What if my character was created before the new character creation system?
A: Go ahead and just give me any comparable information they were created with.

Q: What happened to active vs. inactive characters?
A: It’s enough of a toss-up which characters are going to be relevant the following season that it turns out the active vs. inactive categories aren’t useful. So instead, everyone gets the location and keywords – it’s simpler that way.

Q: Do I have to include all of my characters?
A: Only the ones you might ever want to play again. If you’re not sure, err on the side of adding them to your timejump. If you’re fairly sure you’re never going to be interested in playing that character again, leave them out. Make sure you’re sure, because I’ll stop tracking characters that aren’t included.

Q: Do I have to use all of my timejump goals?
A: No – you don’t have to use timejump goals at all if you can’t think of anything. There’s a maximum number of characters who can add timejump goals, but no minimum.

How To Do Locations
Pick wherever your character intends to spend the majority of their timejump. If they plan to be relatively stationary, list where they’re settling down; if they’re traveling, describe the general trajectory and timing of their travel (between two locations every six months, following a certain set of rumors, clockwise around the plateau, etc).

How To Do Keywords
Characters need a minimum of 2, maximum of 5 keywords or phrases. Phrases need to be relatively short, but don’t literally need to be just single words (see the examples up above). Specific keywords are more helpful than general keywords.

How To Do Timejump Goals
Timejump goals can be as silly or serious and as large-scale or small-scale as you want. If you want to pursue some story lead over the timejump, then by all means do so; but if your character just wants to have a family or open a restaurant, those are perfectly legitimate goals as well. In either case, a few sentences describing how your character intends to go about accomplishing the goal is helpful.

How To Do Additional Goals
Each of your characters gets additional goals, regardless of whether or not they’re getting a timejump goals. These are general life goals. When you pick these, nothing else gets specified – you don’t describe the kind of spouse you’re looking for or what social status you’re trying to get to, just list the additional goals*. Each character gets a maximum of two, but just like timejump goals, there’s no minimum – they don’t have to have any if none are to their liking.
*The exception is health issue – it’s helpful to know which health problem you’re trying to treat.
